Diagnostic Testing

Below are some of the tests that our doctors may recommend to help diagnose and treat pulmonary diseases.
6-Minute Walk
The six-minute walk is a simple, useful test that is performed frequently during screening (looking for signs of PH) and treatment of other pulmonary diseases . The test measures the distance a patient can walk quickly on a flat, hard surface in 6 minutes and reflects their ability to perform daily physical activities.
PFT – Pulmonary Function Test
Pulmonary function tests (PFT’s) are breathing tests to find out how well you move air in and out of your lungs and how well oxygen enters your body. One of the most common PFT’s is a spirometry. The spirometer measures how much air you can breathe into your lungs and how much air you can quickly blow out of your lungs.
EKG  Electrocardiogram
An electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. An EKG shows the heart's electrical activity as line tracings on paper. The dips and spikes in the line tracings are called waves.
T3 Home Sleep Test
This is a device that can be used at home for sleep study.
Nocturnal Oximetry
Nocturnal oximetry is a simple test which can be easily be done at home. This test provides information that may be useful in initially evaluating whether you have one of the more common sleep disorders, sleep apnea. The test involves applying a plastic clip over the end of your finger.
We refer the below test to the Monterey Bay Sleep Center:
Overnight Sleep Study
A sleep study is a non-invasive, overnight exam that allows doctors to monitor you while you sleep to see what is happening in your brain and body.
MSLT Multiple Sleep Latency Test
These tests are designed to help us understand issues of daytime sleepiness and narcolepsy, and are essential for accurate diagnosis of specific sleep-related disorders.
MWT Maintenance Of Wakefulness Test
This study measures the patient’s ability to stay awake during a time when they normally would not sleep.
